A few words about a few songs. A few words about the seven-inch as the classical medium of euphoric pop and honest underground. A few words about a band who knows both of them well. A band that plays pointed pop songs in a silent, intimate way.
Just a few months after their self-titled debut album Berlin-based Jersey have recorded „Touch the ground“ and „Woody“. Two new songs that do not tell their secrets within the first seconds. That start with some open guitar tunes – and with a nonchalant groovy drumbeat. Songs that deal with everything indierock was and is famous for: longing, melancholy, silence, euphoria. Voluptuous guitars and polyphonic voices. And some electronic interferences, of course.
Jersey are Marion Gerth (formally Fred is Dead) and Florian Zimmer (formally Fred is Dead, Iso 68), Max Punktezahl (The Notwist, Contriva) and Noel Rademacher (his Singer/Songwriter-Debut was released on Lok earlier this year). New in the band is drummer Andi Haberl, who has played with Lali Puna recently.
"A supergroup of sorts, Jersey features members of Lali Puna, Contriva and Fred is Dead amongst their hallowed ranks, with this limited edition 7" their latest dose of discerning pop goodness. Keeping the electronic inteference to a well maintained low, the A is a thick slice of prime indie; featuring a bed of burnished instrumentation and a Go Find-esque vocal delivery, whilst on the back 'Woody' is just a pleasing in a honky-tonk-indietronica kind of way. All that and not a sniff of Bergerac in sight..." Boomkat
